We offer two types of private classes: Classes with a Light Meal and Hands-On Classes with Dinner. All classes are held in the Club Room at Topeka or Manhattan Hy-Vee. We would love to host your next meeting or get-together. If desired, your group may bring alcoholic beverages to be served during class. Classes with Light Meal
Join Chef Alli in the kitchen as she prepares a fantastic feast for your group. She will share her favorite tips, tools and techniques that will help increase your skills and knowledge in the kitchen. Get your group together and join us soon for a fun and relaxing class!
The following classes are approximately 2 ½ hours and includes the following:
- Light Appetizers
- Beverages: Tea and Ice Water
- Light Meal and a Copy of all Recipes
- Chef Alli will Teach and Prepare Delightful Dishes for Your Group
- Attendance - Minimum: 12, Maximum: 40
- Cost: 12 – 17 Attending $20 per Person 18 or more Attending $15 per Person

Love Me Tenderloin
Chef Alli will share her special recipes, tips and techniques for cooking her favorite cut of pork – the tenderloin! This menu includes Roast Pork Tenderloin, Spiced Sweet Potato Mash, and Roasted Vegetable Medley. For dessert, you will also enjoy her Apple Skillet Cake.
Simply Italian
Take a trip to Italy with Chef Alli! We’ll journey through the Italian countryside for a delicious sampling of traditional Italian dishes made from the freshest ingredients. This menu includes Pan-Fried Chicken Marsala, Polenta Parmigiano, Glazed Carrots and for dessert, traditional Italian Biscotti.
Asian Inspiration
Savor the magical cuisine of Asia and explore one of the newest culinary trends, “fusion”. Asian fusion cuisine blends the subtle and exotic flavors of the Far East with the traditional and familiar ingredients of the West. Menu: Mirin Seared Chicken Breasts, Fusion Risotto with Baby Peas and Mushrooms, Roasted Asparagus and Won Ton Fruit Napoleons for dessert.
Down Home Fried Chicken Dinner
Take a trip to the country and indulge yourself in a bounteous menu that celebrates the best of country cooking. This gem of a class captures the essence of supper at Grandma’s house: Pan- Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Cream Gravy, Oven Roasted Vegetables, and Gram’s Peach Cobbler with Spiced Cream.
Southwest Celebration
Join Chef Alli in the kitchen for a delightful Quesadilla Bar that includes a variety of fresh, flavorful ingredients to choose from. Creating quesadillas is an art form and Chef Alli will show you some easy techniques for success. This menu also features Chef Alli’s delicious Lasso Orzo Pasta Salad and Pecos Bread Pudding with Pecan Caramel Sauce.
The Lighter Side
We all desire to eat for a more healthy lifestyle, but sometimes we fear that means “blah and boring” when it comes to our menus. Not so! Join Chef Alli for some guilt-free cooking that proves you CAN fold flavor and fun into foods you’ll love. This menu includes Salmon en Papillote (salmon cooked in parchment), Spicy Cucumber Salad, Quinoa with Black Beans, Tomatoes and Scallions, and for dessert, yummy Chocolate Raspberry Tarts.
Your Special Event - Class with Light Meal
These special event classes are a little shorter so you can spend more time with your guests. These classes are great for meetings and business groups, bridal and baby showers, birthday parties and Girls Night Out.
These classes are approximately 1 ½ hours with an extra 1 hour reserved in the Hy-Vee Club Room for other activities and includes the following:
- Light Appetizers
- Beverage: Iced Tea and Water
- Light Meal and Copy of all Recipes
- Chef Alli will Teach and Prepare Delightful Dishes for Your Group
- If desired, one Individual can Assist Chef Alli Prepare a Dish
- Attendance - Minimum : 12, Maximum: 40
- 12 – 17 Attending $20 per Person 18 or more Attending $15 per Person

Get those sweaters or tools out of your oven! Let Chef Alli show you how to make simple comfort food using a few culinary techniques and must have tools. Learn knife skills, two ways to prepare vegetables, prepare the perfect pasta and create simple sauces that will make everyday cooking a breeze.
Impressive Dinner for Two
Cooking dinner for two? Let Chef Alli teach you how to have an enjoyable evening while creating an impressive dinner for your significant other. For starters, Chef Alli will show you how to prepare a light appetizer and then move on to the main course with perfect side dishes that will compliment your entrée. Finally, the evening wouldn’t be complete without creating a delectable dessert.
Appetizers – The Start of a Great Evening
Don’t you enjoy what happens when friends and family get together around food? Maybe it’s the only time you get to stop and spend some much needed time with the people you love so why not make it easy on yourself. Let Chef Alli teach you simple strategies for great entertaining. She will begin by teaching you how to create an artfully designed cheese tray followed by make ahead appetizers that will wow your guests.

Want to do something different and exciting? Get your group together and join Chef Alli in the Hy-Vee Club room as everyone participates in preparing a feast! You will learn new culinary skills, techniques and how to cook with fresh ingredients. From appetizer to dessert your group will have a great time preparing a variety of dishes you will all enjoy.
The following classes are 3 hours with dinner, hands-on instruction and includes the following:
- Light Appetizers
- Beverages: Tea and Ice Water
- Dinner and a Copy of all Recipes
- Cost: $50 per Person
- Attendance - Minimum: 12, Maximum: 18

South of the Border - Let the Fiesta begin! This menu includes:
- Salsa Fresca and Chips
- Nacho Platter

Food That Travels the World - One Bite at a Time! This menu includes:

Beef! It’s What’s for Supper - Ring the Dinner Bell! This menu includes:

- Sirloin Salad with Dried Cherries and Feta
- Beef Taco Wraps
- Creamy Gruyere Scalloped Potato
- Roasted Vegetables Medley (red onion, carrots, parsnips, fennel, sweet potatoes)

BBQ School with Ace of Hearts BBQ Specialties
Not quite the outdoor cooking pro you’d like to be? Join Chef Alli and Rob Russell and learn how to entertain family and friends for dinner, no matter which type of cooker you use: charcoal, gas or smoker. Plus you’ll be privy to all the secrets and tips of the BBQ pros: rubs, marinades, meat cuts, woods, fuels, temperatures, food safety and finishing techniques – the do’s and don’ts of BBQ! This class must be scheduled at least 2 months in advance.
This class is approximately 3 ½ hours, is hands-on and and includes the following:
- Light Appetizers
- Beverages: Tea and Ice Water
- Dinner and a Copy of all Recipes
- Smoked Meat for Take Home
- Cost: $75 per Person
- Attendance - Minimum: 12, Maximum: 18
- We will work in Hy-Vee Club Room and with a Smoker Downstairs in the Parking Lot
